Publishing is often a requirement for academics and researchers, but the process is seldom linear or simple. In fact, there are many stories of things going horribly wrong. Spend an informal hour with UCSB librarians, other researchers, and special guests to hear blood curdling tales of when the scholarly publishing landscape fails our authors, and share your own stories of when things went awry for you. Whether it’s scammy publishers, randos selling your dissertation on Amazon, or the dreaded Reviewer Number 2, you’ll hear tales that seem too awful to be true, and potential steps to remedy the situation if you’re unlucky enough to experience it yourself!
